We were so saddened to hear the news of Velma’s passing. She was such a loving & kind lady. I enjoyed growing up near all of you. Your mom was so kind and loving to me growing up. She many times included me, when she took you boys to the Miami swimming pool. One of my most cherished memories of her was on my 14th birthday. I was at home and my parents were with Debbie at the hospital after her car accident. She called and invited me to come to your house. When I arrived, she had baked a birthday cake for me as a surprise. I couldn’t believe it ! She was so thoughtful. I was delighted to get to see her and spend a few minutes visiting with her a few years back. She was living in the Baptist Villages across the street from Windridge Nursing Home, where my parents were staying . I went across the street to see her after visiting my parents. I used that opportunity to thank her for that thoughtful and caring act which had a lasting impression on me.
She didn’t remember it, but it has been one of my core memories. Our prayers will be with your entire family as you grieve her loss.
