Sid was a great man and friend to me. When I moved to Grove, I had the good fortune to move next door to Sid and his lovely wife Jo. When the tornadoes took down several large trees, Sid was there with his chain saw and spent hours helping me clearing the yard. The he would take out his maul and split the hard oak and hickory logs into quarters. He was in his 70's then but he could wield that maul like he was John Henry himself. He was a great fisherman too. He used to catch a mess of fish and clean them and give them to me. Maybe he would give me some great tomatoes that he grew in his garden. I could relate these stories of Sid's magnanimity all day long. Sid was a great singer. He loved to sing religious songs at church. He lived a full life I will always remember him.
