Kathleen Hamilton's Obituary
Kathleen Hamilton of Miami, Oklahoma passed away August 15, 2015 at Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Oklahoma. She was 90 years young.
Kathleen was born May 24, 1925, in Miami, Oklahoma to Sherman and Beulah (Brewer) Staton. She lived in the Miami area her entire life. She graduated from Miami High School in 1943. Kathleen was also a proud member of the Peoria Tribe of Oklahoma.
Kathleen had passionate zest for life. She began working at Security Bank and Trust in 1949 and worked there for 63 years before finally retiring in 2012. Kathleen wore many hats in her lifetime. She was a 50+ year member of Pilot International and a past president. She was the secretary for the Elm Creek Sunday School, a member of the First Christian Church of Miami, and also a past member of BPW. Kathleen traveled the country many times over with her family and friends up into her late 80.
Kathleen married her love, Bud Hamilton on April 14, 1945. They were blessed with 47 years of marriage before he passed away. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Harper of Grove, Oklahoma, and her sister Marilyn Fessler of Miami, Oklahoma. Additional survivors include her beloved grandchildren: grandson Chad Harper and his wife Carrie of Riverton, Kansas, grandson Craig Harper and wife Cassie of Grove, Oklahoma, and granddaughter Whitney Crawford and husband Bobby of Commerce, Oklahoma. She was blessed with eight great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband M.R. (Bud) Hamilton, her parents Sherman and Beaulah Staton, and one sister, Beryl Pogue.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church in Miami, Oklahoma. Pastor Brian Brubaker will officiate. Pallbearers will be Don Pogue, Bob Pogue, Richard Ball, Mark Riley, Clay Allen, and Ken Pogue. Interment will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami, Oklahoma. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church Chapel in Miami, Oklahoma. Services have been placed in the care of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami, Oklahoma.
