Joe Francis Lannan's Obituary
Joe Francis Lannan, 82, a longtime area teacher and principal passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in Miami. He was born June 10, 1931 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Joseph P. and Freda Mae (Eberhart) Lannan. Joe married his wife Emma Jane in May of 1951. He served in the United States Army and then worked at B.F. Goodrich before becoming a school teacher and then becoming a principal at Washington Elementary in Miami. He and Jane were members of the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart. Mr. Lannan loved to travel, play golf and had even planted some fruit trees. Joe was preceded in passing by his parents Joseph and Freda Lannan and his wife Emma Jane Lannan.
Survivors include a daughter Jeri Gramly and her husband Max of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, a son Joe Lannan and his wife Kelly of Copan, Oklahoma, a brother Mike Lannan and his wife Trina of Kerrville, Texas, a sister Mary Lou Bresson and her husband Dick of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Also surviving are his grandchildren Karissa Gramly, Kyle Gramly and Kailyn Gramly, Jessica Lannan, Nicholas Lannan and his fiancé Kelsey, Maggie Lannan and Samuel Lannan, and his great grandchildren Alex, Anna, Ava and Axel.
Mr. Lannan’s Vigil Service Rosary will be 6:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the Cooper Memorial Chapel at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at the Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart with Father Alex Kennedy officiating. Entombment will follow at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami. The family has ask that memorial contributions be made to the National Parkinson Foundation and can be made in care of the funeral home.
