So sorry that I was unable to attend the service. Mr. Lannan hired me for my first teaching job at Washington Elementary, where I taught for 18 years. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

It was an honor to have worked with Mr. Lannan at Washington Elementary. He was a fine Principal. He was respectful to his teachers and he was very gentle and kind to all of his students. I was a fairly new teacher and I feel he led by example. I learned a great deal from him. I will miss him.

When Joe and I first met, he didn't like me very much; after all, I was seeing his daughter - now my wife of over 30 years. He taught me two things I'll always cherish:
1) Everyone deserves a chance
2) There's no shame in changing your mind
He always cared and always welcomed us into his home. I love my father-in-law as I would love my own.
