It’s impossible to summarize who my Uncle Jim was to me in a short paragraph, but I will attempt my best.
Uncle Jim was the epitome of “you can’t judge a book by its cover”. At first glance, he was rugged and intimidating, that was absolutely not Uncle Jim at all though. He was a larger than life character that commanded attention without even trying. He was an amazing storyteller, who I always loved to just sit, watch, and listen when he got going. I really do think that Uncle Jim was one of the most hilarious people I’ve ever met. I seriously still laugh all the time to myself when I reminisce about times I’ve spent around him. Uncle Jim meant so much to my Dad, and I’ve heard countless stories about how tough, how heroic, and how special he really is. Uncle Jim was a great Husband and Father, and that truly shows in what amazing people my cousins grew up to become. I always thought that the Uncle Jim and Aunt Susie love story was the most inspiring to me; to reconnect with a past love after many years, that is seriously true love.
I am so sorry that I couldn’t make it to Oklahoma for the service, but I do want all of you to know that I love all of you, and my thoughts have been and will continue to be with you, and my Uncle Jim.
