Damon Alan Jones' Obituary
Damon Alan Jones, 66, of Commerce, Okla., passed away early Wednesday morning, September 29th, 2021, at Freeman West in Joplin, MO, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 18th, 1955 in Ft. Hood, Texas to Albert L. and Mary Jean (Phifer) Jones. He was a graduate of Commerce High School, Class of 1973. After graduation, he attended NEO A&M College. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 10th, 1975. He was honorably discharged on July 11th, 1979.
On July 6th, 1981, he married the former Ursula Lehle. They made their home in Commerce where they raised their children. He worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service from 1985 to 2012. Two of those years were in Commerce and the remainder was in Joplin. He was an avid OU fan and he loved to fish.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Denise Watson.
He is survived by his wife, Ursula, of the home; two children, Lisa-Marie Jones of Dallas, TX, and Ruben Laun Jones of Commerce, OK; a sister, Deanna Jones Schmidt of Tulsa, OK; a grandchild, Brody Jones of Commerce, OK; and five nieces and nephews, Hannah, Malarie, and Eli Chenoweth, Keesha Holman, and Nathan Watson; 3 great nephews; 3 great nieces; and a host of friends.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later time.
