Cathy Langley's Obituary
Virginia Catherine (Cathy) Langley, 70, of Bluejacket, Okla., passed away August 3, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, after a short illness, surrounded by her husband, sons, siblings, and the love of everyone that knew her.
Cathy was born December 10, 1949 in Unionville, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Nancy (Neighbors) Duncan. Her class was the first to graduate from the new West Putnam School, where she and her friends designed the first Vikings uniforms. She was star basketball and softball player. She graduated Putnam County High School in the class of 1967.
She met the love of her life, Butch Langley at Fort Riley, Kansas. They were married October 4, 1969 in Lucerne, Missouri. Their marriage resulted in two sons, Jerad Andrew Langley (Shanda) and Bryce Alan Langley (Traci Kay). Cathy worked as a Craig County Court Bailiff, co-owned, kept books, and pumped gas at Langley's Garage, and later was a personal care aide at Home of Hope.
She truly loved her community in both ideal and practical ways. She has spent countless hours supporting, counseling, and helping kids and adults alike. If you were ever in a hard spot and a bill got paid, you probably have her to thank. She had the unique ability to remember little things about you and turn those things into unique experiences. If you visited her home and say you left without a sack full of food and a few little things she thought you'd enjoy or make your life better or easier, you're lying. Her sisters often told her "You inspire us, and we aspire to be like you". Along with her husband, she fostered children in need of homes. She was a cheerleading coach and mentor in her adopted hometown of Bluejacket, sold poppies to benefit veterans, volunteered at the Bluejacket Cemetery, and worked every election she was able in whatever capacity was required. If there was ever a need for a volunteer, she would be there while recruiting anyone else she could find along the way. In addition, she truly enjoyed gardening and raising flowers for all to enjoy and her cup overflowed with love for her grandkids.
Nobody planned better than she did. She was infamous for her notebooks full of ideas and plans. She always made sure time was made for get-togethers, whether it was a full-family affair, or just an annual girls trip. You could bet your birthday would be acknowledged and you'd, at the very least, receive a card as long as long as she knew the date and your address. She fervently celebrated her loved ones, and never exhausted schemes and ideas to honor them and their special occasions. If you came to her with an idea or questions about a project, you better buckle up and hold on because she had energy and creativity like no one else. She was truly one of a kind. She was adored and loved and all memories of her will be cherished.
She is survived by her husband Andrew (Butch) D. Langley; sons Jerad and Bryce Langley; daughters in law, Shanda and Traci; grandchildren, Kenzi, Coleman, and Kayci Langley; her maternal aunts, Judy ( and the late Jack) Radtke, Linda Adams (Monroe), Beverly (and the late Gary) Staggs, and Lois Natiello; siblings, Patricia Cook (John), Thomas Duncan, Paula DiTallo, Mary Beyene (Nate), Glen Duncan Cornelison, and George Duncan (Stef); as well as a special cousin, Jodi Staggs Putz (Jim); and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends she thought of as family.
She couldn't have loved her family better, and they couldn't love her more.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time.
