Anna Mae Gibson's Obituary
Anna Mae Gibson passed away at home on September 5th, 2024, surrounded by family. She was born on January 14, 1940 in Delaware County, Oklahoma on Beaty Creek to Dolly Dickson. She was raised by her beloved grandparents Sadie and Orlando Dickson. She grew up on the banks of Beaty Creek, where she fished, caught crawdads, gardened, and picked berries with her grandparents and cousins. She was especially close to her cousin Wayne.
After graduating at the top of her class at Jay High School, she attended college in Tulsa and began a career in accounting. She moved to Denver soon after, where she met the love of her life, George Gibson. They soon married and started a family in Denver. They soon moved back to Delaware County with their five children: Jim, Judy, Joni, Justin, and George.
She was a devoted Denver Broncos fan. Anna and George were season ticket holders for many years, and she remained a fan through good years and bad.
Anna and George spent several good years with their family, including children and grandchildren, on a farm in Wyandotte, Oklahoma. She was a true matriarch of the Gibson family and brought everyone together often.
After retiring from the farm, Anna and George moved to Grove. Anna began a very successful career in real estate, landing the title of top seller in the area for Century 21. Several decades later, Anna is still remembered fondly by clients and colleagues.
Anna enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. She loved catching up on her favorite TV shows with her family and talking by phone daily with her loved ones who lived far away. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play and participate in sports.
Anna lived a life of service to her family, her friends, and her church community. Above all, she loved her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren never doubted her love for them. She cheered on their efforts and never doubted that any one of us could do amazing things.
Anna leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love. She is preceded in death by her husband George Clifford Gibson Sr. and her son, George Clifford Gibson Jr. She is survived by her sister, Laura Christine Douglas (John) and her children, Judy, Jim (Sam), Joni, and Justin (Tammy), and her grandchildren Jessica, Zach, Ashley, Meghan, Josh, Jed, Bryce, and Anna. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Bearen, Lucy, Josi, Georgie, Noah, Benjamin, Maya, Arthur, Penelope, and Frances.
Her family extends their utmost gratitude to Carol Philpott, the Relief Society of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Miami, and Good Shepherd Hospice.
A visitation will be held on Friday, September 13 from 6-8pm at the Miami Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 14 at the same location at 11:00 AM.
