Wilma Jean Alexander's Obituary
Wilma Jean Alexander, 80, of Quapaw Okla., passed away at Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw, Saturday evening, August 6th, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born January 19th, 1942 in Claremore, Okla. to Brooks and Lillie (Ross) Rogers.
Wilma made her home in Quapaw. She worked many years as a dietician and Certified Nurses Aide for several area nursing homes. She was a member of the Spring River Indian Baptist Church. She was a member of the Seneca-Cayuga and Peoria Indian Tribes. She loved gardening, camping, being in the sun, and most of all, her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and two grandchildren, Chatty and Tyler Alexander.
She is survived by five children, Kelly BringingGood of Stillwater, OK, Contessa Alexander of Quapaw, Kelsie Francis of Miami, Kirk Francis of Baxter Springs, and Mister Alexander of Quapaw; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma will lie in state at the Quapaw Tribal Community Building from Monday evening, August 8th, until the service time. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11th, at the Pow Wow grounds, with burial following in the Peoria Indian Cemetery. Pastor Steve Daugherty will officiate. Shawn Ellick will conduct Indian Rites. Grandsons serving as casket bearers will be Thomas and Paco BringingGood, Kelsie and Tommy Francis, Taz Alexander, and Shawn Franklin.
