William S. Evans, Sr.'s Obituary
William S. Evans, Sr., of Welch, OK, formerly of the Picher and Commerce area, passed away late Friday evening, November18, 2016 at Freeman West in Joplin, MO after a sudden illness. He was 66 years old. William was born June 20, 1950 in Picher, OK to Forrest R. Evans and Jaunita (Watson) Evans. He worked for many years in the heavy construction industry. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He spent his retirement years enjoying his grandkids most of all, but also saved time to play pool, bingo, and slot machines. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was married a number of years to Johnnie Evans. She preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Richard Wayne Evans, and four sisters, Betty Johnson, Linda Gilliland, Teresa Rhodes, and Patsy Holtz. He is survived by 3 sons, Steven Evans of Welch, OK, William Evans, Jr. of Clarksville, TN, and Clifton South of Commerce, OK; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Chuck Lawson of Oswego, KS, Forrest Evans of Elkton, KY, David Lawson of Oswego, KS, and Kenneth Akers of Joplin, MO; 8 sisters, Anna Wilson of Welch, OK, Lenora Brown of Oswego, KS, Tina Johnson of Welch, OK, Holly Erwin of Chetopa, KS, Shirley Yearton of Jefferson City, MO, Peggy Best of Oswego, KS, Sharon Gero of Shenandoah, IA, and Judy Robbins of St. Paul, MN. Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Baxter Springs, KS.
