William "Bill" Charles Jacobs' Obituary
William “Bill” Jacobs, 49, of Afton was healed of his cancer and went home on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. He was born on September 12, 1966 in Rolla, Missouri to Wilburt and Donna (Brooks) Jacobs. He graduated from McDonald County High School in 1984. He worked for the Railroad, was a truck driver and saw milled for a brief time with his lifetime career as an auto mechanic beginning in 1989 in Rogers, Arkansas.
On August 17, 1996, he married his wife, Julie, and moved to Afton. He started his own automotive shop; Bill’s Automotive, a couple of years later and has been in business for seventeen years. He was a member of First Christian Church in Afton; he has been a volunteer fireman for Afton Fire Department since April 3, 2006, and has been a member of the Afton School Board since February 2008. When he wasn’t working at his mechanic shop he enjoyed having his pilot’s license and flying airplanes, hunting and fishing, and coaching his son’s Little League Baseball team from T-ball all the way to the final 11/12 team. He loved spending time with his family and friends and just having a good time.
Bill was preceded in passing by his father Wilburt Jacobs.
Survivors include his mother Donna Jacobs, his wife Julie (Swinehart) Jacobs of the home, his children William Jacobs and Daniel Jacobs of the home, Jeremy Oakley and his wife B.J. of San Antonio, Texas, Jason Oakley and his wife Cristina of Miami and Jacob Oakley and his wife Angie of Jacksonville, Florida, a brother Jerry Jacobs of Anderson, Missouri, a sister Debbie Smith and her husband Mark of Rogers, Arkansas, along with his grandchildren Joel Oakley, Desiree Oakley, Kayla Oakley, Hudson Oakley, Haelyn Oakley, Gavin Gauthier and Gracie Oakley.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 10, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at First Christian Church in Afton.
Celebration of Life Services will be 2:00 PM at Afton High School Gym with Minister Leon Weece officiating. Interment will follow at the Mount Hope Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Afton.
Casketbearers will be Jeremy Oakley, Jason Oakley, Jacob Oakley Tracy Jacobs, Kyle Thurman and Bruce Light.
