Wayne William Woods' Obituary
Wayne William Woods, 83, a resident of Commerce passed away at his home on Sunday, July 26, 2015. Mr. Woods was born on January 25, 1932 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Lewis and Madeline (Yelton) Woods. He joined the United States Air Force; he was honorably discharged after six years at a rank of Airman First Class. He later married Vada Joan Short. He retired from being a postal carrier, and then worked for thirteen years from Farmland Industries in Afton, and in his later years he delivered newspapers for the Miami News Record. Wayne enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and raising cattle. Mr. Woods was preceded in passing by his grandparents Marcus and Vian Yelton, his parents Lewis and Madeline Woods, a son Monte R. Woods and two sisters Wanda Vanderpool and Mona Page.
Survivors include his wife Vada Joan Woods, children Michael Wayne Woods and his wife Sheryll of Fairland, Lane Woods and his wife Dedra of Miami, Stewart Woods and his wife Cindy of Bluejacket, Chris Woods of Commerce, Mollie (Woods) Drapeau of Pittsburg, Kansas and a daughter-in-law Missy Woods of Bluejacket, his grandchildren; Leah Woods, Kari Woods, Crystal Putman, Austin Woods, Cassie Berryman, Megan Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Grant Watson, Summer Watson, Parker Woods, Sheena Fried, Jennica Woods, Trevor Woods, Dillon Woods, Amber Woods, Kylee Manners, Ryan Woods, Whitney Woods, Mato Drapeau, Cortney Baker, Ashton Baker and Micah Baker, along with seventeen Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Graveside Services are 10:00 AM, Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at Fairland Cemetery with Mr. Steve Wheeler officiating. Services are under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
