Virginia Louise Collins' Obituary
Virginia Louise Collins, 83, of Baxter Springs, Kansas passed away Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO, surrounded by her family. Virginia was born August 15, 1930 in Hereford, TX to Roland Benjamin and LaVada (Breashers) Caldwell. She married Luther Raymond Collins on November 9, 1952 in Oswego, KS. He preceded her in death on September 6, 1982. Virginia was an avid homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her children: Robert Dale Johnston of Arizona, Leroy Collins of Vinita, Carlene Steele of Welch, Dean Collins of Coffeyville, KS, Benny Collins of Mammoth, KS, Larry Collins of Wichita, KS, Darlene Sharbutt of Quapaw, OK, Janet Kinder of Baxter Springs, KS, Brenda Byrd of Cherryvale, KS, Joann Collins of Baxter Springs, KS, James Collins of Mound Valley, KS and his twin Joyce Marie Collins, (now deceased); 31 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Vera Martin and Florine Kuhn, both of Wichita, KS; and a host of friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Walter Caldwell; and 1 sister, May Caldwell. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 23, 2013 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, OK. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, OK. Rev. Dallas Satterfield and Rev. Eddie McAffee will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Toby Byrd, Timothy Collins, John Kinder, Stanley Lake, Larry Collins, Jr., Luther Collins. Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Collins, Jake Gillifillen, Allen Byrd, Thomas Sharbutt, David Byrd, Michael Lake, and Bennett Collins. Interment at Walker Cemetery, West of Welch, OK.
