Virgil Ray Jinks' Obituary
Virgil Ray Jinks, 96, was called home to the Lord on Thursday morning, December 2nd, 2021 at Featherstone in Miami, OK. He was 96 years old.
He was born February 9th, 1925 in Edna, Kansas to Ernest Ray and Ladenna (Bowman) Jinks. He was a high school graduate. He served his country in the United States Army where he was awarded a World War II Victory Ribbon.
He was married to the former Emma Kathleen McKinzie, and they made their home west of Welch, where they raised their five children. Along with being a farmer and rancher, he and Kathleen also operated a donut shop in Welch for several years. He also drove a school bus for Welch Public Schools for 28 years. He was a longtime member of the Welch Baptist Church. Most recently, he attended White Oak Baptist Church. He loved to attend his kids and grandkids sporting events, take boat rides on Grand Lake, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grand, great grand, and great-great grandchildren.
In 2006, he and Kathleen moved to Vinita. On January 14th, 2008, Kathleen passed away. He remarried on April 11th, 2009 to Ruth Simpson. She passed away September 19th, 2018. He is also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Herman and Franklin Jinks; a sister, Audrey Henry; and a daughter in law, Valerie Jinks.
He is survived by five children, James "Jim" Jinks and wife Sonnie of Miami, Sue Allen and husband Jerry of Carthage, MO, Mary Rexwinkle and husband Jerry of Cleora, David Jinks and wife Pamela of Stillwater, and Jeffrey Jinks of Diamond, MO; two siblings, Eugene Jinks of Vinita, and Maxine Shope of Bentonville, AR; four sisters in law, Marilyn Mulvaney, Donna Lair, Marietta Jinks, and Wannah Lee Jinks; 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren; and seventeen nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 10th, 2021, at the White Oak Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Walker Cemetery, northwest of Welch.
