Tom Deal's Obituary
Ones Leon "Tom" Deal, 86, of Pittsburg, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
Tom was born September 28, 1934 in Rocky Comfort, Missouri to Oliver and Etta (Granger) Deal. He graduated from Stella High School in Stella, MO. He had lived in Pittsburg, KS for the last six months where he was under the care of his son and daughter in law, Terry and Debbie Deal.
He married the former Barbara Elaine Pogue, and to this union, five children were born. Those children were Terry, Ronnie, Mike, Doug, and Tammy. Elaine passed away at the age of 51 after 34 years of marriage. He lived in Stella most of his life until he met Ruth DeSilva. They married and Tom moved to Ruth's home town of Commerce, OK.
Over the years, he worked as a truck driver delivering Town Talk Bread, and Dolly Madison products. He later drove a truck delivering propane. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and reading western books.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine, and his second wife Ruth; his parents; a son, Doug Deal, whose ashes will be buried with Tom; 3 sisters, Olive Evans, Lenola Pellatere, and Cloetta Carden; and 3 brothers, Onel, Harold, and Elmer Deal.
He is survived by four children, Terry Deal and wife Debbie, his caretakers, of Pittsburg, KS, Ronnie Deal of Baxter Springs, KS, Mike Deal of Springfield, OH, and Tammy Gerber of Springfield, MO; 13 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2020. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Macedonia Cemetery in Stella, Missouri. Pastor Jim Clay will officiate.
