Terry Eugene Pendergraft's Obituary
Terry Eugene Pendergraft, was born July 22, 1950, in Miami, Oklahoma to parents Robert “Hugh” Pendergraft and Viola Mae (Gress) Pendergraft. He grew up in the Fairland and Miami areas, graduating from Miami High School in 1968. He earned an Associate Degree in Accounting from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.
He served seven years in the Oklahoma Army National Guard. Terry worked a couple years with his oldest brother, Bob, in Tulsa, before moving back to Miami and working for B.F. Goodrich until its closing. He then worked for Ken’s Farm and Home in Miami. His love of animals brought him to work with Dr. Wylie Hough at the Miami Animal Hospital. During his lifetime he raised cattle, horses, homing pigeons, turkeys, several breeds of goats, dogs and cats. He had a flair for breeding quarter horses and could list several generations of bloodlines of each horse he ever owned. Terry was also employed by the Miami Tribe’s Title VI Program where he worked for 10 years until 2014.
He is survived by, Laurie Pendergraft, of the home; a son; Gregory Brent Pendergraft and wife, Sky; Melissa Anne Pendergraft Gilkison and husband Jason and Anne Pendergraft. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Alyssa Marie Pendergraft and Leah Ashley Evans: two grandsons, Axton Cole Gilkison and Ayson Jett Gilkison.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, four brothers, James Robert “Bob” Pendergraft, Charles Thomas “Tom” Pendergraft, twin brothers Gary Lee Pendergraft and Larry Dee Pendergraft.
Honorary pallbearers are Jim Hood, Jack Abernathy, Casey Abernathy, Jim Cox, Mike Gunter and Travis McMinn.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Service will be 2:00 PM on Monday, February 27, 2023 at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami. Immediately following the service friends and family are invited to the Myaamia Center at 2307 W Newman Road, Miami, Oklahoma 74354 for refreshments.
