Sylvia R. Tomlinson's Obituary
Sylvia R. Tomlinson, 80, of Vinita, Okla., formerly of Welch, passed away August 9, 2019 at her home after a long illness.
She was born November 15, 1938 in Welch to Hayward Nelson and Mae (Gorman) Nelson. She was married to Bob Riley for several years before he preceded her in death.
She worked a number of years as a sewing machine operator at Vinita Flag and Apron, retiring in 2003. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, and flowers. When she lived in Welch, she attended the Welch Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob; a son, Robert; one brother; and two grandchildren, Jamie Riley and Haley Couch.
She is survived by three children, Kay Couch and husband Larry of Vinita, Bobby Riley and wife Cindy of Ava, Missouri, and Sheryl Rogers and husband Brent of Welch; two sisters, Shirley Bass of Miami, and Virginia Smith of Lenapah; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the Walker Cemetery, west of Welch. Pastor Bob Whitchurch will officiate.
