Sue Jane Scruggs' Obituary
Sue Jane Scruggs, 81, of Miami passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in Quapaw, Oklahoma. Sue Jane was born on February 28, 1934 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Kelsey J. Hart and Etta (McElroy) Wasmundt. Mrs. Scruggs was a graduate of Miami High School. She was also a longtime member of All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Miami where she was very active and enjoyed teaching Sunday School. She loved to play golf, travel and play bridge. Sue Jane was also a member of the PEO Chapter AJ. Mrs. Scruggs was preceded in passing by her parents Kelsey and Etta and a brother Don Downum.
Survivors include her husband David Scruggs of the home, Children Will DeMier of Claremore, Matt DeMier of Hollywood, California, Melissa Cox of Stillwater, David Scruggs III of Kingsport, Tennessee, Elizabeth Whiting and Andrew Scruggs both of Nashville. Other survivors include her grandchildren Nicholas DeMier, Chloe Cox, Mia Cox, Myers Beaird, Reed Beaird, Sophie Whiting and Laren Scruggs, along with other relatives and many close friends.
Sue Jane’s Celebration of Life Services is 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Miami with Reverend Mary Koppel officiating along with Reverend Noel Doherty. Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
The family would like to thank the employees of Higher Call Nursing Home and Integris Hospice for the good care they provided to Sue Jane.
