Steven L. Cave's Obituary
Steven Cave, age 45, passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Monroe Manor in Jay, Oklahoma. Steven was born on October 29, 1971 in Sacramento, California to Robert Earl and Edna Clare (Norris) Cave. He attended Afton High School where he graduated in 1990. He then went on to attend the Northeast Technology Center in Afton, Oklahoma where he received a certificate for welding. He was a resident of Cleora, Oklahoma and had many different jobs including welding, concrete and machinery. Steven was very outgoing and loved to be outdoors. A few hobbies he enjoyed were hunting, fishing, camping and he was a big sports fan, he also was in arm wrestling competitions. He was known as “Caveman” and “Cavey” by his friends. Steven held his family and friends close to his heart, there wasn't anything he wouldn’t do for them, he will be dearly missed. Steven always said "Give the world a smile and you will get one back." He is preceded in death by his father Robert Earl Cave, Sister Betty June Cave, his maternal grandparents Thomas and Eliene Norris, his paternal grandparents Earl and Mable Cave and his great-grandparents George and Mary Bobo Geist and George Roy and Minnie Willis Cave and Joel and Susie Colon Kean.
Survivors include his mother Edna Cave Mathews of Cleora, Oklahoma. Two brothers Robert Edward Cave of Bernice Oklahoma and Cecil Leroy Cave of Donovan, Missouri, a sister Janet Montez and her husband Juan of Afton, Oklahoma.Three nieces Amy Tatum of Afton, Oklahoma and Shana Tatum of Afton, Oklahoma and Jeannie Mahaffey and husband Matt of Neodesha, Kansas. One nephew Robbie Cave “Dick” and his wife Birdie of Vinita, Oklahoma. Two great nieces Tristy Horton and Jessica Mahaffey, three great nephews Jayston Shadwick, Trevar Woodward, Tuff Mahaffey and Blake Mahaffey, and one brother-in-law Greg Tatum.
Pallbearers will be Greg Tatum, Darrell Bubba Henson, Robbie Cave “Dick” , Rocky Squirell, Gerald Henson and Rob Cave.
Visitation for Steven will be Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. at the Brown- Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Afton.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the First Assembly of God in Afton with Reverend Josh Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow at the Sixkiller Cemetery in Afton, Oklahoma.
Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
