Silas "S.R." Bradshaw's Obituary
Silas Roy Bradshaw, who was known by everyone as S.R. or Sarge, passed away Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was 76 years old. He was born November 15, 1940 in Lebanon, Missouri to Arthur Elmer Bradshaw and Dorothy (McCormick) Bradshaw. He was a longtime resident of Welch. S.R. was a longtime employee of the Bill Patch Coal Company where he served in a supervisory capacity. After the coal mines shut down, S.R. drove tour buses, and later, he became a bus driver for Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami. He was a member of the Maybelle Baptist Church. He was retired from the Welch Volunteer Fire Department. He was known for his love of fishing and hunting. But these things had to wait if his grandsons, Kenton and Kendal, had a ball game for him to attend. He was always at the games, offering coaching tips from his spot along the fence. A few years after his grandsons school sports ended because of graduation, Raleigh, his great granddaughter was born. When she got old enough to play sports, S.R. was always there to support her as well. He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Kathy Bradshaw, and a brother, Arthur Lee "Bull" Bradshaw. He is survived by one son, Kenny Bradshaw and wife Kim of Welch; 2 grandsons, Kenton Bradshaw and wife Katie of Welch, and Kendal Bradshaw of Claremore, Okla.; one great granddaughter, Raleigh Bradshaw of Welch; one niece, Brooke Witham; one great niece, Chelsea Witham; and one great great niece, Avery Chenoweth; numerous cousins; and a host of very good friends. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Welch City Cemetery. Mike Harden will officiate. Friends may call at the home of Kenny and Kim in Welch.
