Shirley Payton's Obituary
Shirley L. Payton, 82, a longtime Miami, Okla. resident, passed away Thursday, August 18th, 2022, at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, Okla. after a long illness.
She was born February 2nd, 1940 in Milan, Missouri to her mother, Alpha Wyant. She attended school in Commerce, Okla.
On December 19th, 1979, she became the bride of Freddie Lee Payton. He passed away January 3rd, 2010. She was a housewife and she loved to cook.
She is preceded in death by her husband, mother, and two children, Steve Payton and Sonya Kern.
She is survived by her children, Roger Griffin and wife Karen May of Denham Springs, LA, Halene Mate and husband Jim of Miami, Tom Payton of Miami, Rick Payton of Joplin, and Tammy Conner of Miami; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous cousins; a bonus daughter, Pam Cozort; and a bonus son, Shaun Wiegand.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, August 22nd, at Glen Abbey Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
