Shirley Maxine Nelson's Obituary
Shirley Maxine Nelson lifetime area resident went to rest with her Lord on Monday March 18, 2019, after a lengthy battle will Alzheimer’s disease.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Delbert and Sarah Stafford, a son Lesilie Steven Nelson, sisters Saphronia Coats of Vinita, Almeda Miller of the Narcissa area, and Lawanda Frost Hilderbrand of Vinita.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 68 years, Leslie O. Nelson of the home, son Mike Nelson of Newport, Tennessee, three grandchildren and four great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Shirley graduated from Miami High School in 1950. She Married Leslie Nelson of Jay, Oklahoma area on August 19, 1950. Shirley’s greatest joy was providing a solid, loving home for her family. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Miami, Oklahoma.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregiver Cheryl Byers, and the Staff at Good Shepherd Hospice for ensuring her comfort.
A visitation for friends and family will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 21, 2019, At the Brown Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami, Oklahoma funeral services for Shirley will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami. Reverend Leon Weece will officiate. Interment will be at Williams-Timberhill Cemetery.
