Sherrie Ann Matney's Obituary
Sherrie Ann Matney, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on Monday, September 8, 2025, at her home in Eucha, Oklahoma.
Sherrie was born on October 4, 1956, in Chandler Arizona. Sherrie is survived by her parents, Wayne and Marie Matney; sister, Teresa Willson and husband Bill; a brother, Curtis Matney; the following nieces and nephews, Melinda Carr, Emmett McNeil, Alex Matney, and Tyler Willson; great nephews, Emil Carr, Grey Grimm, and soon to be born Harlow Grimm. Sherrie is also survived by her grandmother, Mattie Matney, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
After graduating from Copan High School in 1974, she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Sherrie had a career with United Parcel Service as a driver, and then as a Human Resource specialist.
Sherrie moved to Grand Lake from Tulsa, Oklahoma, several years ago and was well known and loved in the Eucha, Disney and Langley communities. Sherrie briefly served with the Tiajuana Volunteer Fire Department after moving to the area.
Sherrie’s quick wit and friendly disposition resulted in many lasting friendships. Sherrie could easily be found by her friends at the local hangout, Pickles Bar and Grill, usually attired in an Oklahoma State or Dallas Cowboy hoodie. Sherrie loved football and these were her teams. No team could have asked for a better fan than Sherrie Matney.
Sherrie was also well known for her wit having been selected as one of the Wittiest in her high school. Many friends and family followed her on social media and loved seeing her daily humorous posts.
Services in honor of Sherrie will be conducted on October 17, 10:00 am, at the South Grand Lake Christian Church, 446205 E 350 Road, Vinita, Oklahoma (outside of Langley on 350 Rd). The service will be followed by a Celebration of Life at Pickle’s Bar and Grill, 2036 N 3rd St, Langley, Oklahoma.
If possible, attendees are requested to wear OSU Orange to the services in honor of Sherrie’s passion for Oklahoma State University football.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Sherrie’s name to Emerald Hospice, 120 S Yorkshire Blvd, Wagoner, Oklahoma, 74467.
Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami, Oklahoma.
