Sharon Pat Reynolds' Obituary
Sharon Reynolds, 83, a longtime resident of Miami, Oklahoma, went to be with her heavenly Father on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, surrounded by her family at her home.
Born on August 3, 1941, in Fairland, Oklahoma, to H.C. (Buck) and Dorothy Grace (Blizzard) Shepherd, Sharon grew up with a love for community, education, and service. A proud member of the Miami High School Class of 1959, Sharon was active in many extracurricular activities, including performing on the drill team, the Miamiettes. She continued her education at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, where she was a member of the Norse Star dance team, showcasing her spirit and enthusiasm for life.
Sharon’s deep commitment to service extended beyond her education. Always eager to help others learn and grow, she was deeply involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities, including their numerous teams, organizations and clubs. On November 10, 1961, Sharon married her soulmate, Gary Reynolds, and together they built a life full of love, laughter, and faith.
In her professional life, Sharon worked as a bookkeeper for Pettit Manufacturing and later at Bowers & Wilcox Kemper-Wilson Insurance Company. Her love for her family, community, and faith was evident in all she did. Sharon was an active member of the Restoration Church of Jesus Christ, where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and volunteered with youth camps. A gifted musician, Sharon played both the piano and organ at church, and her talent was further celebrated with the publication of a song she composed in the church's hymnal.
Above all, Sharon was known for her hospitality, generosity and kind spirit. Her home was always open, and it was a place where friends, family, and especially the children’s and grandchildren’s friends felt welcomed and loved. Sharon and Gary were constant supporters of their grandchildren, attending their school activities and sporting events.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, H.C. (Buck) and Dorothy Shepherd. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Gary Reynolds; their children, Barry Reynolds and his wife, Tracy of Claremore, Oklahoma, and Shawn and her husband, Bob Carder of Miami; her brother, Gary Shepherd of Destin, Florida; and her cherished grandchildren: Kylee Jo Horton and her husband Kyle of Stigler, Oklahoma, Garrett Reynolds and his wife Carlee of Oklahoma City, Addee Carder of Miami, Laurel Reynolds of Dallas, Texas, Daley Reynolds of Claremore, Oklahoma, as well as her soon to arrive great-grandchild, Kingzlee Carder Horton.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the First Christian Church in Miami, Oklahoma. A Celebration of Life will follow on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the same church, with Elder Steve Kropp and Minister Leon Weece officiating. Interment will be at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
