Sharon Lucille Geren's Obituary
Sharon Lucille Geren, 71, of Commerce, OK, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Integris Miami. She was born November 15, 1949 in Vinita, OK to Orville and Martha (See) Humphrey. Her family lived in Welch during her entire childhood as she attended Welch Schools. In 1968, she graduated from Welch High School with honors, and was Valedictorian of her class. She was passionate about sports, going to state in basketball, and participated in volleyball, and softball alongside her teammates.
She graduated with honors from Pittsburg State University, obtaining her bachelor's degree in education. She excelled in sports and academics. After graduating from Pitt State, she began her teaching career at Quapaw Public Schools for 2 years, and retiring from Picher Public Schools after 28 years.
Sharon was previously married to Kenneth Eads. From their marriage, they had two beautiful daughters, Shannon and Julie. In July 1998, she married her best friend and everlasting partner, Philp Geren in Miami, OK.
Sharon was also a teacher of life. She loved her family and would spend endless and selfless hours making sure they were happy and cared for. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed planting flowers. She loved to make elaborate costumes for her family for Halloween and theatrical productions, and more recently face masks to keep them safe during the pandemic. She also had a love for Shelties. Her generosity was contagious, leaving a legacy to those she loved.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; 1 brother, Mike Humphrey; and 1 grandson, Christopher Hill.
Survived her loving husband, Philip; 2 daughters, Shannon Eads of Miami and Julie Pellett and husband, Wade, of Ft. Scott, KS; 3 grandchildren, Kyle Hill, Weston Pellett, and Elizabeth Booth; 2 great-grandchildren, Keaton Hill and Arria Lewis; 3 sisters, Carol Humphrey, Cathy Reavis, and Gail Jackson; brother in law, Collis Geren; 2 sisters in law, Lois Marie Geren and Betty Roseanne Hartman; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
A visitation will be held for family and friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Paul Thomas Chapel, Commerce. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami. Pastor Steve Patterson will officiate.
She will lie in state at Paul Thomas Chapel in Commerce beginning at noon Thursday.
Serving as casket bearers will be Wade Pellett, Kyle Hill, John Hartman, Weston Pellett, Collis Geren, Jon Duboise, Leonard Bachman and Troy Reavis.
Respectfully, there will be a private family viewing time Friday, from 11:30 until service time.
The family strongly requests the respect of wearing a mask and maintaining social distancing at all times.
