Sandra Kay Morrison's Obituary
Sandra Kay Garman-Morrison, age 74, passed away at Kootenai Health & Medical Center August 19. She was born January 28, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Bill Orlando Huddleston and Yvonde Elisabeth Hanna. Sandra was raised by Marvin Richard Garman of Wyandotte, OK. Sandra married Guy Daly Morrison May 28, 1960, who preceded her in death May 23, 1986. Sandra is survived by her three sons, Guy Spencer (Joplin, Missouri), John Wesley (Valleyford, Washington), and Richard Franklin (Baytown, Texas), twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Nicknamed “Crafty Sandy”, her passions included teaching, painting, and creating arts and crafts. She was a skilled painter and master cake decorator. Her talents shined when she instructed classes using her creator-given talents and skills. Her original artwork, “Teepees to Towers”, won an Ottawa County art competition in 1957, when she was just 15. This work was featured on the cover of the Official Souvenir Program of the Oklahoma Semi-Centennial Ottawa County Pageant.
Other career highlights include: weather reporter for Armed Forces Radio & Television Service in Asmara, Africa, and numerous bookkeeping positions throughout the years while raising her three boys under the hardest job in America, that of a deployed service-member’s spouse. Sandra touched the lives of many with her caring nature and strong dedication to her interests. She will be missed deeply by many. Visitation will be on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami. Her life will be celebrated and her memory honored on September 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Cooper Memorial Chapel at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
