Rusty Joe Jorgenson's Obituary
Rusty Joe Jorgenson, 51, of rural Welch, OK, passed away Thursday, March 13th, 2025 after a courageous fight against cancer.
He was born in Winfield, KS on December the 28th, 1973. He was handpicked as an infant by Verlin Joe Jorgenson and Linda (Turner) Jorgenson.
Rusty was a 1992 graduate of Welch High School. He furthered his education at NEO A&M College, Southwest Baptist University, University of Central Arkansas, and Labette County Community College.
On December the 14th, 2017, he married the love of his life, the former Jennifer Boyce, at a ceremony on the Cayman Islands.
He was the Imaging Supervisor at St. Francis Hospital Vinita, formerly Craig General Hospital, for the past 12 years. He was a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technician. He took great pride in being known as "the best boss around", as stated by his employees. His tenure at that hospital was 29 years.
He loved to travel with his wife. He loved spoiling his best dog, Reese. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, music, golf, date nights at the casinos, football, and always pranking those around him. Rusty still holds the records for Welch High School football of 214 receiving yards, 50 receptions, and 13 receiving TD's in a game. He was proud to be a Momma's boy, and he held the title of "Grump" to his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Jorgenson; and an infant brother, Verlin Joe Jorgenson, Jr., and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, of the home; a son, Gannon Jorgenson of Conway, Arkansas, a daughter, Jaeli Volmer and husband Mason of Parsons, Kansas; a step-daughter, Kasey Bailey of Tulsa, OK; his mother, Linda Jorgenson, of rural Welch; a sister, Kristi Bullard of Girard, Kansas; two grandchildren, Kimber and Slade; his spoiled dogs; a nephew, Josh Baker; a niece, Lexi Baker; a great-nephew, Jackson Baker; and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March the 17th, at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch. He will be laid to rest in the Welch Cemetery in a private, family only, burial.
