Russell R Wilkerson's Obituary
Russell Ray Wilkerson was born to proud parents, Billie Frances (Amos) Wilkerson and Kenneth Ervin Wilkerson on February 6, 1960 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. At 2 years of age Russell and his parents moved to Southern California where his father Kenneth started a new career. Russell thrived in California; playing various sports, surfing and mostly enjoying the families’ new found faith in God, which included lots of church activities.
As a school aged boy, Russ excelled in academics where he was even encouraged by his teachers to take the GED High School Equivalency test in the 6th grade so that he could enter college. Russ did take the test and scored exceptionally well but his parents decided that he should wait a few years before taking on that endeavor; so at the young age of 14 Russ was enrolled in Whittier College where he studied business and finance, which later benefited him in his construction business.
More than anything Russ will be remembered for his love for God, kindness, and his generosity; always helping anyone who was down or going through a tough time in life.
After suffering a long illness, Russ at the age of 65 went on to be with his Lord and Savior. He is survived by his Mother Billie McClain, Step Children, Ray McCorney, Xavior McCorney, Special Friend, Cindy Wilkerson, Chosen Sisters, Jo Ledford and Denise Gregory and a host of cousins and friends that loved him. He was preceded in death by his Father Kenneth Wilkerson, His Brother, Phillip Wilkerson, His Step Father, John McClain, Both Sets of Grandparents and all of his many Aunts and Uncles.
Cremation Services have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
