Rosa Belle Hency's Obituary
Rosa Belle Hency, 78-year-old Bluejacket resident, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at her home surrounded by family. Rosa was born on May 17, 1940, to Chester and Dora (Riechman) Greninger, in a farmhouse south of Fairland, OK.
Rosa attended grade school at Beck School and later Afton Public School. She married Frank Lee Shambles on December 3, 1956. To this union were born four children, Dexter, Gale, Lisa and Teresa Shambles. Frank preceded her in death on December 5, 1965.
After the death of her husband, Rosa attended NEO Nursing School in Miami, OK, and graduated an LPN in 1968. She then went to work at Craig General Hospital in Vinita, OK. She worked there until 1970. She married Leo Franklin Hency on August 14, 1970 at Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita, OK. To this union was born one child, Alan Hency. Leo preceded her in death on June 7, 2017.
Rosa left the nursing field after her marriage to Leo and joined him working on the family farm. She drove tractors, working fields and planting crops. She drove combines to harvest the crops and grain trucks to haul the crops to the elevator. She raked and hauled hay and helped to wean and work the cattle. She continued to drive tractors and trucks until 2010 when her health made it too difficult. She continued driving a pickup and hauling hay until 2015.
Rosa loved cooking big meals for her family, reading and collecting cookbooks, sewing, cross stitching, collecting dishes, and watching her grandkids play sports and show their animals. More than anything she loved to go anywhere her family wanted to take her.Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Frank Shambles, husband Leo Hency; son Dexter Shambles; grandson Mathia Bergman; brothers Everett Greninger and Robert Greninger; sisters Kate Witt, Anna Lane, and Margaret Herrell.
The family includes: her children, Gale Deewall and husband Bradley of Halstead, KS, Lisa Bergman and husband Bob of Miami, OK, Teresa Adams and husband David of Towanda, KS, Alan Hency and wife Julie of Bluejacket, OK.
Grandchildren: Franklin Shambles (Cara) of Hamilton, MT, Jennifer Knutson (Chris) of Laurel, MT, Tiffany Meier ( Casey) of Laurel, MT, Traylee, Mariah, and Madison Shambles of MT, Michael Estes (Jessica) of Independence, MO, Bryson Deewall (Josi) of Halstead, KS, Melinda Vinson (Darnell) of Pittsburg, KS, Matthew Adams (Sabrina) of Towanda, KS, Salena Cleveland (Josh) of Towanda, KS, Lea Hency, Sara Hency, Ayla Hency, Levi Hency, all of Bluejacket, OK.
Siblings: Lee Roy Greninger (Mary) of Miami, OK, Louie Greninger of Clearwater FL, IrmaGene Neal of Poseyville, IN, Loretta Mitchell (Joe) of Bella Vista, AR
20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family with greet friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, March 24, 2019 in the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Welch. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, also in the Chapel. She will be laid to rest in the Bluejacket Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and sons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Terry Horton and Joann Horton.
