Ronald Dean Chaney's Obituary
Our family is heartbroken to announce that Ronald Dean Chaney, our beloved father, went to Heaven on Sunday, January 19, 2025. He was known to most as "Ronnie" or "Ron." He was a loving and devoted father of three children. He had lived in Welch, OK, his entire life.
Ronnie was born in Welch on November 15, 1947, to Jesse Carroll Chaney and Majorie Elizabeth (Brady) Chaney. He loved his parents dearly his entire life. He graduated from Welch High School in 1967.
After graduation, Ronnie first developed his love for heavy equipment when he ran a road grader for the county. He then began working for Patch Coal Company. For many years he was a superintendent in the coal mines around the area. When the coal mining business began to shut down, he started doing reclaiming work for several more years. He was a proud member of Operating Engineers Local 101 in Kansas City and remained so until his passing.
He enjoyed owning cattle and horses his entire life. He always had an eye for a good horse and found great pleasure in taking care of all his livestock. He complained but secretly always liked messing with all of his bottle calves.
Ronnie's life revolved around his children and grandkids. He was the best, most proud dad and papa, willing to do anything for those he loved. He would take any opportunity to talk about his kids and grandkids. He was so proud of what they were always involved in and accomplishing. His greatest joy was seeing those he loved happy and fulfilled.
Ronnie was delighted to go to Miami with Rick each week to meet their breakfast club buddies. He also enjoyed going to the Newland's house for dinner. He always enjoyed hauling around his Amish boys (Harvey, Johnny, and Ethan). He especially loved getting an ice cream cone with anyone willing, most especially his granddaughters.
His parents and two brothers, Bill Chaney and Garry Chaney, preceded him in death. Those left here to mourn his loss are his son, Jarrod Chaney (Alfie) of Bluejacket, daughter Nicole Chaney (his best friend, sissy) of Claremore, Jessica Davenport (his little cowgirl), and husband Ty of Adair. His five grandchildren are Taylor Vazquez-Shimanek, Jonas Chaney, Lauren Chaney, Isabella Davenport, and Slade Davenport. His brother Rick Chaney of Welch, three nephews, and a niece.
He never met a stranger and had friends everywhere he went. He loved talking to people and giving them a hard time. To Ronnie, there was no place like home. He loved his home and all the things he worked so hard for.
He was so happy to spend the last two months of his life at Nicole's house. Nicole and Jessica devoted their time lovingly taking care of him and helping him in every possible way. They were so blessed with this time with him. He is deeply loved and will forever be missed by so many.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. Friday, January the 24th. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January the 25th, also at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Welch Cemetery.
