Robert James Gibson's Obituary
Robert James Gibson, 85, a resident of Adair, Oklahoma, passed away at Hillcrest Tulsa, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026. Robert was born in Fairland, Oklahoma, on June 16, 1941, to Maurice “Lon” and Bessie (Boyd) Gibson. Robert graduated from Afton High School in 1959. In 1960, he married Joyce Knight. Together they would spend many wonderful years together until her passing in 1995. In 2000, he married Mary Frazier. The two would enjoy many happy years together until his passing. Robert worked for Southwestern Bell, retiring as a cable repair technician. When Robert was not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, eating ice cream, and hitting every buffet he could find. Robert will be remembered as a fun-loving person who could always been seen wearing his overalls with a smile on his face. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Lon and Bessie Gibson, wife, Joyce Gibson, grandson Levi Gibson, along with his eight siblings.
Those left to share the memory of Mr. Gibson, include his wife, Mary Gibson, children, Lora Gibson and husband Doug, Kevin Gibson and his wife Lisa, Tim Gibson and his wife Michelle, Bear Gibson, grandchildren Jesse Gibson, Macy Sanchez, Lauren Walker, Ashton Holden, Pierce Gibson, Hunter Gibson, Zach Gibson, Kelli Weaver, Mallory Parsons, Zaine Gibson, and Carley Gibson, four brothers, Charlie Gibson, Leroy Gibson, Chigger Gibson, Carl Ray Gibson, and many great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Mr. Gibson will be from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Lone Star Baptist Church in Fairland. Funeral services will follow starting at 2:00 P.M., with Reverend Brian Gibson officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Afton, Oklahoma.
