Raymond C Merit's Obituary
Longtime resident of Fairland, Oklahoma Mr. Raymond C. Merit entered into heaven’s gates on Tuesday April 20, 2010 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 87 years. Raymond was born August 27, 1922 in Peoria, Oklahoma to his parents, Herman and Arta Sherwood Merit.
Raymond was a longtime and dedicated employee of BF Goodrich. He retired from there with many years of service. Raymond was also known as a great blacksmith and machinist, he loved to work with metal. He spent many hours outdoors working his land, enjoying nature; tending and working his pecan farm in the fall was one of his true enjoyments.
He and Lorraine were members of First Baptist Church for many years.
Although Raymond is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends he leaves behind which include:
3 Sons: Carl Merit of Fairland, Oklahoma, Larry Merit and wife Dee of Vinita, Oklahoma, Bobby Merit of Fairland, a special friend: Ken Hinds of Fairland, Oklahoma, 1 Grandson: Larry Merit Jr. and 2 Great Grandchildren: McKinlee and Trey Merit and a host of longtime friends, neighbors and church family. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents and wife: Lorraine “Babe” and 4 brothers.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday evening April 23, 2010 at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Fairland, Oklahoma from 6-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday April 24, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Fairland with Pastor Andy Krebs officiating. Interment will follow at Fairland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation my be made to Amyloidosis Foundation 7151 N. Main St., Suite 208 Clarkston, MI 48346.
The family has chosen Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home with their services.
