Raymon E Smith's Obituary
Raymon E. Smith, 76, a longtime Miami area resident passed away at Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri on Monday, September 24, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born on November 7, 1935 in Cassville, Missouri to Carl and Ethel (Rhodes) Smith. He married his wife Dixie Waldon in Miami, Oklahoma on September 24, 1958. During that time he was a member of the 81st Airborne Division of the United States Army. They spent some time in Europe before coming back stateside. Mr. Smith was awarded several medals while active, they were, Expert Rifle, Sharp Shooter, Code of Conduct, Military Justice, European Campaign, Battle INDOC and French Honorary Medal of Valor. He loved to hunt and fish and often Dixie would go along with him. Raymon is preceded in death by his parents Carl and Ethel Smith, a brother Lloyd Haynes and a sister Leota Smith.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years Dixie Smith of the home, two daughters Karmin Smith and her husband Wes Graham of Quapaw, Kathrin Smith and her husband David Thompson of Minnesota, two grandsons, John Kennton Smith and Dalton DeShazer, a granddaughter Darcie Graham, a brother John Smith and his wife Reba of Baxter Springs, Kansas along with fifteen nephews and ten nieces.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the Church of God Holiness in Miami with Reverend Ricky Weldon officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairland Cemetery under the direction of the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Miami.
Casketbearers will be David Thompson, Wes Graham, Jerry Waldon, Max Waldon, Donald Turner and Justin Turner.
Honorary Casketbearers will be Mr. Smith’s Nephews.
