Rachel Marie Coombes' Obituary
Rachel Marie Coombes of Columbus, Kansas was embraced in the loving arms of Jesus on Tuesday, November 11th with her loving husband by her side. She was 41.
Rachel was born on September 4, 1979 in Columbus, Kansas and brought an instant joy to her parents Ricky and Vivian Waldon. Her younger brother Jason completed their family several years later.
When Rachel was just 15 years old she met the love of her life, Tyson Coombes. They started their journey of husband and wife on May 22, 1999 and continued to build an incredible life from that day forward. Rachel knew from the moment she met Tyson that he was the man God had created for her. The Lord blessed them with four beautiful children: Isabell, Abigail, Carson, and Cayden. Her children were the light of her life and brought a joy to her soul she never imagined possible.
Rachel worked at Pizza Hut and Charlie’s Chicken for many years until she became a mom and her passion for being with her kids took priority.
Above all, Rachel loved the Lord and she pursued him passionately, mostly through music. She loved playing the piano at her church, Treece Bible Holiness Church, or wherever she encountered a piano. Her love for the Lord and her children overflowed into her love of helping others. She brought many into her home and she could be found helping people every chance she got.
If you had the honor of knowing Rachel you knew how much she loved shopping, napping, being with those she loved, and hosting Sunday dinners with as many people as she could fit around the table. Rachel was a remarkable friend. Just ask Sarah, Amanda, Tabby, Cathy, and the numerous others that had the privelage of calling her friend.
It was obvious by the way Rachel lived her life that she loved her family. She will be greatly missed by those that still survive. Her husband Tyson Coombes and four children: Isabell, Abigail, Carson, and Cayden. Her parents Ricky and Vivian Waldon. Her brother, Jason Waldon and his two children: Zayne and Blake. Numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Rachel was proceeded in death by her grandparents Bruce and Dorothy Vanatta, Jack and Daisy Waldon as well as her mother in law, Paula Coombes.
We are gathering to honor the life of Rachel on Thursday, November 19th at 2:00 in the afternoon at First Assembly of God in Miami, Oklahoma. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 18 th from 6-8pm at Brown Winters Funeral Home. Masks are recommended and will be provided for those in need.
