Phyllis Earlene Witten's Obituary
Phyllis Earlene Witten, 88 year old resident of Miami, OK, passed away late Saturday evening, January 20th, 2024, while surrounded by her family.
She was born August 28th, 1935, in Douthit, OK to James and Anna Martin. She attended Commerce Public Schools, graduating with the Class of 1954. On June 8, 1956, she married Cecil Witten in a ceremony in Commerce. They resided in Commerce where they raised their three children.
Phyllis worked several years at First National Bank in Miami. She then worked at the Sears store in Miami, and later on, she worked in the cafeteria at Commerce Schools. She enjoyed painting ceramics. Her favorite pastime was when she and Cecil would camp in their trailer on Grand Lake alongside numerous friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Sherry Rose; four brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two sons, Russell Witten and wife Tina of Miami, and Kelly Witten and wife Mary, of Miami; a sister, Ann Holmes of Miami; grandchildren, Kurt and Kade Witten, Dustin Witten, Brittany Brooks, Kelsey Vaughn, Shelby McElroy, and Mariah and Tanner Norwood; thirteen great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews,
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 24th, at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 25th, at Cardin Baptist Church. Geoff Buffalo will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the GAR Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Gary Pigg, Marty Moudy, Charlie Wilmoth, Rick Martin, Mark Witten, and John Holmes.
Services have been entrusted to the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch.
