Phillip Ernest Burroughs' Obituary
Mr. Phillip Ernest Burroughs left this world and his sickness behind when he entered into Heaven’s Gates on Sunday, December 21, 2008. Phillip was born October 31, 1939 in Garber, Oklahoma to his parents Ernest Merle and Velma McVay Burroughs. Phillip spent most of his school years in Blue Jacket, Oklahoma where he attended and graduated high school. He and his family resided in Blue Jacket from 1949 to 1960 until moving to Miami, Oklahoma. On March 19, 1960 Phillip took Miss Janet Anderson as his bride. He and Janet have lived and raised their family in Miami ever since. Phillip served is country faithfully in the United States Navy from 1959 until his honorable discharge in 1962. While serving in the Navy he became an aviation jet mechanic. Phillip also held the Navy’s Golden Glove Boxing title during his tour of duty. Phillip retired from the State of Oklahoma as a meat inspector.
Phillip enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime. He was Deb’s softball coach during her school years, he loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors. There was one special hobby Phillip loved most of all. Any given moon lit evening you could find him and his dogs coon hunting. There was no better place for Phillip to be but with his dogs hunting.
