Ovella Alma Gordon's Obituary
Ovella Alma Gordon, 92, went to meet her Lord and Savior on October 10th. She was born December 3, 1926, to Willie and Wilma (Howell) Williams. She married Russell Gordon in 1944 and they were together over 66 years, spending most of their married life raising cattle on their farm west of Four Corners.
The couple enjoyed Bluejacket school sports, attending the events in which their children and grandchildren participated. Their later working years were at the school where Ovella worked in the cafeteria while Russell was a bus driver. They touched the lives of many children and enjoyed spending time encouraging and caring for the kids in Bluejacket. Ovella loved volunteering at Craig General Hospital and visiting friends in the nursing home.
Ovella was proceeded in death by her beloved husband, Russell; her oldest son, Russell Lynn; her parents; her great-granddaughter, Payton; and her nine siblings, Omar Lee Williams, Dellas Williams, Juanita Grammar, Leona Williams, Verna Dunn, Ruby Lee Williams, Viola Williams (Aunt Jo), Devon Williams, and Billy Joe Williams. She is survived by her sons, Dennis Gordon of Mesa, AZ and Hugh and Treva Gordon of Bluejacket; and daughter, Paul and Karen Davis of Yukon; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren, plus many friends and extended family. Ovella taught Sunday School at Calvary Baptist in Vinita and her church family were a close knit group that kept her active and involved in activities after Russell's death.
Services for Ovella Gordon will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch. Pastor Skip McClain will officiate. Family visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, also at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers.
Ovella will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Welch City Cemetery, Welch, OK.
