Oreta Triece's Obituary
Ollie Oreta (Tete) Triece, 98, a longtime resident of Welch, Okla., was taken to heaven on October 11, 2020. She was born December 17, 1921 to Thomas and Gertie (Williams) Woolard. Oreta married Floyd Vernon Triece on April 17, 1943. From this marriage, two sons were born, Floyd Jr. (Strawberry) and Robert.
Oreta attended Miami Schools, graduating from Miami High School in 1940. She continued her education at Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College (now NEO A&M) in Miami before transferring to Northeastern State College (now Northeastern State University) in Tahlequah, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Education on May 22, 1947. On July 30, 1971, she obtained her Master's Degree from Kansas State College (now Pittsburg State University).
She was a teacher for 37 years. Her career began in the rural area, teaching at Solid South, North Fairview, and Rogers Schools. The remainder of her teaching was at Welch Public Schools as a 2nd and 4th grade teacher. She retired in 1984.
She was a long time member of the Welch Christian Church. Until her health began to decline, she was active in the Craig County Retired Teachers Association and the Welch Senior Citizens. She was also a proud member of the Shawnee Tribe.
Survivors include sons, Strawberry of Commerce, OK and Robert Triece and wife Linda of Welch, OK; grandsons, Sky and Cody Triece; brother, Richard Woolard and wife, Rose of Miami, OK; brother-in-law, Don Webber of Grove, OK, along with nieces and nephews, a host of friends and her special caregivers at Eastwood Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Commerce, OK.
She was preceded in death by her husband; four sisters, Helen Herrel, Pat Webber, Betty Jo and Ima Woolard; and daughter-in-law, Eva Triece.
Those wishing to view and sign the book may do so from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Welch, OK.
A private family service will be held. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Williams Coal Creek Cemetery, West of Miami, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Welch Christian Church P.O. Box 296 Welch, OK 74369.
