Nancy Lou Collins' Obituary
Nancy Lou Collins, of Coffeyville, Kansas, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 8, 2021, at Ascension St. John Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Okla. She was 69 years old.
Nancy was born September 1, 1951 in Oswego, KS to Elmer Lee and Thelma Mae (Lindsey) Strickland. She attended Sunny Side Elementary School. She was a graduate of Oswego High School, Class of 1969. On December 5, 1969, she married the love of her life, Kenneth (Ken) Collins.
She worked for 26 years as a teacher aide for USD 445, Coffeyville Public Schools. She was a lifetime member of the PTA and was a Longfellow volunteer. She loved to read and watch Kansas City Royals baseball. The times she cherished most was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren in all their sports and other activities. She was affiliated with the Christian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; 6 siblings, Darlene Strickland, Lorene Patton, Jack Strickland, Calvin Strickland, Carol Brown, and Melvin Strickland; and her in-laws, Willa Mae DeShane Collins and Howard Marion Collins.
She is survived by her husband, Ken, of the home in Coffeyville; 4 children, Tina Gilfillan and husband Robert of Caney, KS, Teresa Rogers and husband Jimmy of Caney, KS, Tracie Woolfolk and husband Mark of Edna, KS, and Tim Collins and wife Patricia of Owasso, OK; 9 grandchildren, Chelsea, Kristy, Megan, Michaela and husband Logan, Amber, Ty, Sydney, Kyle, and Natalie; 5 great grandchildren, Landon, Kailey, Payton, Paisley, and Preslyn; 4 siblings, Charles Strickland, Larry Strickland, Naomi Carte, and Glen (Leon) Strickland; many nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa. Mark Wilson will officiate. Casket bearers will be Robert Gilfillan, Mark Woolfork, Jimmy Rogers, Ty Rogers, Kyle Woodfolk, Logan Carnes, J.D. Graham, and Carl Grady.
