Michael E. Mooney's Obituary
Michael Edward Mooney, 66, a longtime resident of Welch, OK passed away November 12, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, MO, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born August 22, 1949 in Miami, OK to Harry "Fuzz" Mooney and Donna "Pat' (Throop) Mooney. He was a graduate of Commerce High School Class of 1967. He attended NEO A&M College in Miami, obtaining his Associates Degree in Accounting. He also played baseball for NEO. On May 4, 1973, Mike married Jana McClure east of Welch in the home of Lloyd Carder, the preacher that married them. Mike was employed at Webco Industries in Tulsa at the time of his death, where he worked with steel tubing. Mike's favorite hobby was work. He was so supportive of his grandchildren and loved them dearly. He was their biggest supporter when he watched them participate in sports, rodeo, livestock showing, and dancing. He is preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Harry Harner. Mike is survived by his loving wife, Jana, of the home; one son, Brian Mooney and wife BJ of Welch; one daughter, Andra Brannon and husband Matt of Welch; 5 grandchildren, Blake Brannon and Avery Brannon, Lucchese Mooney, Crosslyn Mooney, and Merritt Grace Mooney, all of Welch; one sister, Mitzi Black of Miami, OK, 5 nephews, 2 nieces, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends at the family home. Services honoring Mike will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Welch Christian Church with Minister Jake Stivers officiating. Burial will follow in the Welch City Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Robert Triece, Andy Windle, David Brown, Billy W. Brown, Derek Black, and Jacob Mount. Honorary casket bearers will be Bill McAffrey, Steve Davis, Steve Lester, Vincent Brannon, and David Berry. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Welch Public Schools Enrichment Foundation, c/o Welch State Bank P.O.
