Michael Leo Fitzpatrick's Obituary
Michael Leo Fitzpatrick, 65, of rural Bluejacket, Okla., passed away at his home early Saturday morning, August 28, 2021, while surrounded by his family.
Mike was born in Welch, Okla. on December 19, 1955 to Leo and Erma (Craig) Fitzpatrick. He was a graduate of Welch High School. On January 23, 1992, he married the love of his life, Terri Wheatley.
He began working at age 12 at Eastside Station in Welch. Since he didn't have a driver's license, he drove a tractor to work. Years later, he and his wife Terri took the station over and ran it for several years. All Mike knew was hard work. He also had worked at Bill's Coal Company, APAC, owned and operated Fitz's Country Tire and Lube, served as Craig County Commissioner for District 2, and most recently, he worked for Steel City.
Mike was always willing to help anyone that needed help. He served the town of Welch on the Volunteer Fire Department, many of those years as Fire Chief. For Mike, spare time was rare. But when time allowed, he enjoyed his horse and buggies. He was a member of the Welch Christian Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Heather Fitzpatrick; a brother, Ricky Fitzpatrick; and his sister, Virginia.
He is survived by his wife, Terri, of the home; a daughter, Kaitlin Fitzpatrick, of the home; a sister, Juanita Oakes, of Vinita; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
In keeping with Mike's wishes, no services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Mike with a donation to the Welch Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 277 Welch, OK 74369.
