Melvin "Lynn" Davis' Obituary
Melvin “Lynn” Davis, 82, a long time Miami resident and business owner passed away on Friday, April 14, 2023 at Landmark Hospital in Joplin. Lynn was born on June 29, 1940 in Miami to Melvin H Davis and Patty W. (Curtis) Austin. He graduated from Miami High School with the Class of 1959. Lynn started he long career as a butcher and meat cutter at Safeway in Miami, at an early age he took the leap and bought the Welch Meat Locker in the early 70’s. He enjoyed hunting duck, geese and quail, he also enjoyed shooting skeet and fishing. Over the years he found himself and his brothers at the local dance halls swing dancing. One of his longtime hobbies that he kept up was golf, he enjoyed playing with the guys out at Peoria Ridge. Mr. Davis was preceded in passing by his parents Melvin and Patty, a son Chad Davis and his brother Butch Davis.
Survivors include his son Derrick Davis and his wife Aleksandra of Philadelphia and his daughter Megan Davis of Miami, a brother Gary Davis and two grandchildren Forrest Davis and Hestan Davis, along with his nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at Brown-Winters Funeral home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, April 19, at 2:00 PM at Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery in Miami under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
