Mary Jane Shepherd's Obituary
Mary Jane Shepherd, of Miami, OK, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Eastwood Manor, Commerce, OK with her family at her side. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday. Mary was born July 2, 1924 in Joplin, MO to Charles Homer and Winona (Carney) Neidigh. She moved to the Miami area in 1944 where she worked for Miami Laundry for many years. She married George Greaves. He preceded her in death. She later married Oscar Shepherd. He preceded her in death in 1965. Mary was an avid homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Carol Barton; and 1 sister, Virginia Holmes. She is survived by 2 daughters, Gayle Newton, and Joyce Hoag and husband Patrick, all of Miami 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; many other loving relatives, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2014 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce, OK. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2014 at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Commerce. Don Pettus will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott and Mike Pettus, Patrick Hoag, and Matt Mazzare. Interment at G.A.R. Cemetery, Miami, OK.
