Marvin Russell Snodderly's Obituary
Marvin Russell Snodderly, 85, a lifelong resident of rural Bluejacket, Okla., passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2019 after an extended illness.
He was born August 31, 1933 in Bluejacket to Jake Snodderly and Florence (Horton) Snodderly. He was a high school graduate. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
On May 15, 1953, he married the former Dixie Wilkins in a ceremony in Bluejacket. He was a longtime rancher and a retiree of B.F. Goodrich in Miami. He loved his family, rodeo, horses, and collecting bits and spurs.
On September 30, 2007, Dixie preceded Marvin in death.
He is survived by two sons, Jim Snodderly and wife Terrie of Bluejacket, and Chris Snodderly and wife Judee of Miami; a daughter, Sandy Kiefner and husband Mike of Oklahoma City; a brother, Raymond Snodderly of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Jacie Rife (Brian Kelly), Kelli Wayland (Jeff), Rodney Sooter (Sally), Zachery Sooter (Auburn), Traci Cook (Danny), and Samantha Thompson (Mark); 19 great grandchildren, and a very special friend, Patricia Yarger.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2019 at the Bluejacket Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest next to Dixie. Greg Highsmith will officiate. Grandsons will serve as casket bearers. Military rites honoring Marvin will be conducted by the American Legion Post #147, Miami, Okla.
