Martha "Margie" McAffrey's Obituary
Martha “Margie” McAffrey, 92, a longtime resident of Welch, OK, passed away early Tuesday morning, June the 16th, 2026, at her home, while surrounded by her family.
She was born March the 28th, 1934, in Bartlesville, OK to Oliver and Ethel (Fairsheets) Schultz. She was a graduate of Chetopa High School.
On December 25th, 1951, she married Bill McAffrey in a ceremony in Chetopa, KS. Eventually making their home northwest of Welch, their lives together in farming and ranching began. Hard work and persistence made them a successful farming and ranching team. Margie was a proud farm wife as she looked at what their hard work had accomplished.
On top of her work on the farm, in 1983, Margie obtained her license to sell insurance. She sold mainly for American Farmers and Ranchers. Margie was a hard worker, and in her spare time, she enjoyed painting portraits, farm work, and her family, and spoiling her great grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Welch Christian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill McAffrey; a daughter, Gail Denise McAffrey; two sons, David and Billy Joe McAffrey; and three siblings.
She is survived by a daughter, Terrie Snodderly and husband Jim of Bluejacket, OK, her daughter in law Dee McAffrey; seven grandchildren, Jacie(Brian), Kelli (Jeff), Jodee(Chris), Morgan(Chris), Brandon (Shelby), Chad(Kim), and Megan; 17 great grandchildren, Erika, Rachel, Wil, McKinzie, Emory, Adam, Colt, Kate, Mercedes, Kasen, Kyall, Ruel, Raegan, Kamden, Alli, Maddi and Landon; two great great grandsons, Warren and Ledger; a sister in law, Betty Parker, and her special family friends, Leon and Sandy Vail, and Larry Able.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June the 18th, 2026, at the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June the 19th, 2026, at the Welch Christian Church. Mike Harden will officiate. Burial will follow in the Welch Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Chad McAffrey, Wil Rife, Adam Thompson, Colt Thompson, Brandon McAffrey and Price Ward.
