Margie Jurgensmeyer's Obituary
Margie Luetkemeyer Jurgensmeyer, surrounded by her loving family, quietly passed away Sunday afternoon, December the 21st, 2014, at her home in Miami, Oklahoma. Marge was eighty-two years old. Marge was born on September the 23rd, 1932, in Tuscumbia, Mo. Her parents were William and Emma Schwieterman Luetkemeyer. Marge grew up and attended school in St. Elizabeth. In 1950 she graduated from the high school and was named Valedictorian of her senior class. Marge went on to graduate with honors from the University of Missouri with a Bachelors of Science degree in Home Economics. On April the 26th, 1952, Marge Luetkemeyer married her best friend, high school sweetheart, future business partner, and the love of her life, Virgil Jurgensmeyer. After teaching for several years, Virgil and Marge decided to start their family and Marge began her lifelong dedication to her husband, children, home and church. For many years, Virgil was employed by the Ralston Purina Corporation and was required to spend a great deal of his time traveling throughout the country. He depended on Marge to be the primary caregiver of the children and home. Virgil readily admits, that much of his success in life is due to having Marge as the cornerstone of the home. A true partner in every sense of the word, much of Virgil's success in his career with Ralston, was due to Marge's dedication to the home. After years of traveling and moving his family throughout the United States, in 1979, Virgil chose to leave Ralston Purina Corporation. After many long talks with Marge, the couple decided to move to Miami, Oklahoma and begin the J-M Farms, Inc. Starting out with few employees, this couple, through hard work and dedication, turned their small company into the national, multimillion dollar corporation that it is today. A true partnership, Marge worked tirelessly beside Virgil, in this company, doing everything from picking mushrooms to being head bookkeeper. Through it all she was Virgil's "right hand" and was involved in every major decision that was made. Again, Virgil credits Marge with the success of their endeavor. From birth, Marge was a strong believer. She was a devout Catholic throughout her life. Her involvement in the church scanned a period of over seventy five years, ceasing only when her health declined in recent years. She was a very active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miami, serving on the Alter Society for many years. In every aspect of her life, Marge's faith shined through. In 2012, the Church recognized her dedication, love, and years of service, and she was awarded the Distinguished Catholic Diocen Catholic Woman Achievement Award. Marge's faith was never more evident that when she gallantly faced her last illness. Throughout her courageous fight, Marge never lost her gracious nature and her kindness toward others. Polite to the end, Marge never failed to be appreciated to all who helped her. Marge was faithfully cared for by her husband and her best friend, confident, and care giver, Christy Weber. The family wishes to publicly acknowledge their gratitude to Christy, Dr. Clark Osborn, Dr. Street, and to the Integris Home Health, and their employee, Tyson Keith. In addition to her work at J-M Farms and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Marge was also involved in many activities in the Miami area. She served on many boards and committies throughout her years, including the Miami Baptist Hospital Foundation and the Miami Public Library Board. She was also a long time and active member of the P.E.O., Chapter E.J. And the 20th Century Club. Along with Virgil, she was also an anonymous donor to many charities. Marge is predeceased by her parents; one daughter, Linda Jurgensmeyer, in 1962; two brothers and their wives, William Luetkemeyer, and wife, Carmen, Vic Luetkemeyer, and wife Jane, and one brother in law, Cornie Evers. Marge is lovingly survived by her husband, Virgil, of the home; Three sons, Curtis Jurgensmeyer, and wife, Ellen, Terry Jurgensmeyer, and wife, Debbie, and Pat Jurgensmeyer, and wife, Tonya, all of Miami, Oklahoma; One brother, Al Luetkemeyer and wife Cincy of St. Elizabeth, MO; Three sisters, Milie Evers, of St. Louis, Mo., Irene Berkel, and husband, John, of Austin, Tx., and Lorraine Turle, and husband, Todd, of Chicago, Ill.; Nine grandchildren, Andrea Forrester, and husband, Brian, of Miami, Ok., Laura Jurgensmeyer, of Dallas, Tx., Alex, Ryan, Nicholaus, Shelby, Christopher, Madison, and Megan Jurgensmeyer, all of Miami, Oklahoma; two great grandchildren, Sidney and Noah Forrester, of Miami, Oklahoma; many Godchildren, and many-many other loving relatives and dear friends. A Rosary and visitation will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Friday evening from 6:30 to 8:00, December the 26th, 2014. Services for Marge Jurgensmeyer will be held Saturday at 10:AM, December the 27th, 2014, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Father Carl Kerkemeyer will officiate. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ryan Jurgensmeyer, Tim Ingram, Megan Jurgensmeyer, David Walser, Madison Jurgensmeyer, Scott Engelbrecht, and Brian Forrester. Interment will be in the GAR Cemetery in Miami, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, Marge may be remembered with gifts to the Integris Hospital Foundation, the Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Miami Public Library Board, or the charity of your choice. Marge will lie in state at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami, OK, until Rosary.
