Margaret J. Buckmaster's Obituary
Margaret J. Buckmaster, 97, a longtime Miami resident passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. She was born on July 13, 1917 in Columbus, Kansas to Homer Oliver and Eva May (Richards) Potter. Margaret was a graduate of Riverton High School and attended Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Miami for fifty years; she retired in 1985 from the State of Oklahoma where she worked for the Department of Human Service. Mrs. Buckmaster was an avid gardner, quilter (she made over fifty quilts) and was known for her wonderful cooking. Margaret was preceded in passing by her parents, Homer and Eva, her two brothers John Potter and Homer Potter Jr., her five sisters, Helen Fry, Twyla Aiken, Hilma Marcoux, Maybelle Derfelt and Wanda Jane Koppel and one granddaughter.
Survivors include her children, Gary Buckmaster of Riverton, Kansas, Beverly Morris of Miami, Janet Garrett of Springfield, Missouri, Larry Buckmaster of Carthage, Missouri and Daryl Buckmaster also of Miami. Other survivors include her sisters Eva Lee Pool of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Hilda Harris of Mesa, Arizona, and Wilda June Lynch of Baxter Springs, Kansas along with her eleven grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Visitation will be on Sunday, December 7, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM on Monday, December 8, 2014 at Cooper Memorial Chapel at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami with Reverend William Lee Payne officiating. Interment will follow at the Lowell Cemetery.
