Lucy Jane Dodd's Obituary
Lucy Jane Dodd, 87, of Miami, OK, passed away early Tuesday morning, April the 30th, 2024, at Windridge Nursing and Rehab.
She was born November the 3rd, 1936 in Charlottesville, VA to Oscar Mehring and Minnie (Marshall) Mehring. She was married to Robert Dodd until his passing in 1977.
She attended business college and became a bookkeeper. She worked for Old Dominion Oil Company and later, for LSB Industries. She was a member of the Goucher Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. She was naturally a caring person. Her life was exemplified by her acts of compassion and empathy shown by caring for family, friends, and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a longtime companion, David Walton; three step-children, Robert D. Dodd, Mary Fields, and Robi Long; two brothers, Oscar Mehring, Jr. and Tom Mehring; and two sisters, Nancy Wilkins and Carolyn Walton.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Dodd of Miami, OK; three step-children Richard Dodd of Edmond, OK, Thomas David Dodd of Edmond, and Mickey Dodd of Woodbridge, VA; numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. June 14th, 2024 at the Episcopal Church in Miami. Mary Susan Whaley will officiate.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas & Chenoweth Funeral Home in Welch.
