Lorene Rogers' Obituary
Lorene Rogers, 90, of rural Welch, OK, passed away Tuesday, December 24th 2013, at her home after a sudden illness. Lorene was born August 4th, 1923 to Willie Loyd Griffith and Mabel Wilkins. Lorene attended the Golden Rod School in her early years. She dearly loved her job of many years being a homemaker. On December 25th, 1941, Lorene married the love of her life, Alfred "Buck" Rogers in Welch, OK. Buck preceded her in death on June 28th, 2007. Lorene loved to read and play games with her family on Sunday afternoon's. Lorene had a passion for baking and was well known for the pies she would bake. Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her dear sister, Doretha Barkwell, who passed away on October 6th, 2013. Lorene is survived by one daughter, Vickie Gideon and husband Don of Welch, OK, two sons, Rollin Rogers and wife Phyllis of Welch, OK, and Gaylin Rogers and wife Norma, also of Welch, OK, 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and two very special nieces, Debbie Yost and Connie Beck, both of Chetopa, KS. Services for Lorene will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 27th, 2013 in the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Welch. Minister Cindy Day will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mike Brady, Glen Bryson, John Hoekstra, Morgan Wayland, Rodger Wilson, and Mark Nelson. Burial will follow in the Rogers Cemetery, west of Welch. The family requests donations be made in Lorene's memory to the Chetopa Church of God, in lieu of flowers. Donation can be sent to the Thomas Funeral Home, P.O Box 231 Welch, OK 74369.
